The stone support pillars in this courtyard are created from fabricated cultured stone. While some homes are still built with natural stone to get the Italian atmosphere, this type of material is a lot less expensive, much easier to work with, and is much lighter which requires less foundation on the home.

The redish brown patio is stained stamped decorative concrete. In the wall at its end, you can see the outdoor fireplace. And at the very far distance, a wall fountain.

The planting beds are intentionally placed in this patio at the foot of the pillars to support climbing vines that will trail along the edges of the canopy. This will help create the Italian Tuscan atmosphere.

Of course, water is provided to these flower beds by a bubbler system that was intalled before the patio pavers were laid. This will provide water to vines that will climb on the cultured stone pillars as well as other bedding plants.
